Location: Arnhem / Utrecht, Netherlands*
*We are moving from our current HQ Arnhem office (next to train station Arnhem Centraal) to a new office in central Utrecht in the summer of 2025.

Purpose
The Senior Internal Communications Specialist will be responsible for helping to share the Medline corporate story among staff in several EU countries. The senior specialist will take ownership of our Internal Communications platforms and play a pivotal role in connecting employees with our organizational mission, values and employee initiatives.
The specialist will be required to both create and commission content as well as work with the Communications team to maintain the highest editorial standards. They will also be responsible for linking our senior Leadership Team with the rest of our employees and executing strategies that help bring about a thriving workplace culture.
Activities and responsibilities
Corporate Communications
- Devise and share regularly scheduled content and news stories for internal staff platforms (e.g., SharePoint, email, third-party apps).
- Translate complex ideas into digestible messaging tailored for diverse employee audiences.
- Work with internal editors to ensure all Internal Communications products meet the highest editorial standards
- Coach senior leaders to deliver effective verbal communications - with a particular focus on speeches at internal events
- Manage the day-to-day operation of our various communications platforms - with a particular focus on SharePoint.
Employee Engagement
- Lead initiatives that foster employee engagement, collaboration, and feedback, such as town halls, focus groups and surveys.
- Work with HR department to develop employee recognition programs and other activities to engage employees.
- Devise a strategy to boost engagement with our Learning offering.
Change Management
- Partner with HR, IT and other departments to craft and deliver messaging for organizational changes, system rollouts and process updates.
- Serve as the communication lead for company-wide projects or transformations.
Analytics and Reporting
- Evaluate the effectiveness of communication efforts using analytics and employee feedback.
- Provide actionable insights to continuously improve strategies and initiatives.
Collaboration
- Build relationships with C-Suite leaders to progress strategic goals
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Communications Manager, providing inputs and suggestions on effective communication approaches.
- Manage and mentor Internal Communications Specialist and (potentially) other members of staff.
Job requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing or a related field.
A Master’s degree is advantageous. - Fluency in the English language with the ability to write messaging in UK English; fluency in other European languages is advantageous
- At least five years' experience in internal communications or related sectors such as a press office, public affairs agency or HR department.
- Expertise in using communication tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, intranet software).
- Proven success in devising and project-managing communications initiatives in dynamic environments
- Ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
- Proficiency in data analytics to inform strategic decision-making.
- Prior experience of crisis communications protocols and change management communications.
- Prior experience in the healthcare sector is desirable, but not mandatory. Prior experience of working with ESG and Learning departments is advantageous.
