Assistant Management Accountant

Purpose
The Assistant Management Accountant will be responsible for all operational month-end close activities and completing balance sheet reconciliations. This role will be supporting the Senior Financial Controller in all activities ensuring smooth closing process and reconciliations of the general ledger.
Activities and responsibilities
- Financial Reporting
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Help ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Budgeting and Forecasting
- Support the development, monitoring, and financial forecasts.
- Assist in analysing variances between actual and budgeted figures.
- Accounts Management
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, reconciling all general ledger.
- Complete month-end procedure posting journals, working towards deadlines set.
- Carry out year-end procedure, working towards deadlines set.
- Assist in the reconciliation of financial accounts.
- Complete quarterly VAT returns.
- Maintain fixed asset register.
- Internal Controls
- Support the implementation and maintenance of internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Assist in conducting audits and reviews to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Financial Analysis
- Provide support in analysing financial data and generating reports.
- Assist in the preparation of financial analysis for management decision-making.
- Administrative Support
- Perform administrative tasks, such as filing, data entry, and document management.
- Assist with other tasks as needed to support the financial controller and finance team.
Job requirements
- Partially/fully qualified or QBE, minimum of 5 years of experience
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting, reporting and analysis with a focus on month-end close process
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated with a collaborative, team working approach
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Able to work on own initiative
Experience
- Typically, 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
